🏛️ About the Foundation

The Foundation for Dutch Language and Culture (FODULAC) was established in February 2025 to promote Dutch language learning, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration between India and Dutch-speaking regions. Based in Bangalore, we are a nonprofit, inclusive initiative working across communities and institutions.

🌱 Why FODULAC Was Created

Our founder, Thomas van Berckel, identified a growing gap: while interest in the Dutch language was increasing, there was no coordinated platform to support learners, trainers, or cultural exchange. FODULAC fills this gap by offering structured courses, academic initiatives, and cultural programs — all rooted in accessibility and inclusion.

🎯 Our Mission

  • Make Dutch language learning accessible to all
    • Facilitate academic and cultural partnerships between India, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Suriname
    • Create opportunities for underserved learners, including Tibetan communities and heritage speakers
    • Support research, translation, and publication in Dutch and English
    • Serve as a cultural bridge through storytelling, events, and training
